2017 Pink & Blue Ribbon Breakfast

Friday, October 27 2017, Verandah Resturant, 55-65 Elizabeth St, Sydney NSW 2000

Members and their friends are invited to the 2017 Pink & Blue Ribbon Breakfast on Friday, 27 October at Verandah Restaurant. Come and enjoy a two-course breakfast and help raise money for two wonderful charities. There will also be a fabulous raffle drawn on the morning with amazing prizes to be won!

Raffle tickets are now available for purchase at the Bar Association Reception. RSVP for the breakfast today, RSVPs will be accepted until Monday 23 October unless sold out prior.

If you are unable to attend the breakfast, you may still make a donation to these worthy causes via the registration process. All donations over $2 are tax deductible. Tax receipts will be issued by the charities following the events. To donate, please click here.

Supporting charities

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is the leading community-funded national organisation in Australia raising money for research into prevention and cure of breast cancer. Research programs funded by the NBCF cover every aspect of breast cancer, from increasing understanding of genetics to providing better treatments and improving ways to support women and their families. The NBCF relies almost entirely on corporate and community support to continue its work.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) is the peak national body for prostate cancer in Australia. The PCFA focuses on funding innovative research, support, information and advocacy for men with prostate cancer and raising awareness across the community. PCFA operates over 100 supports groups Australia wide who provide support and advocacy, via the phone or face to face to men and their families affected by prostate cancer. These groups meet regularly and provide a meeting forum for the exchange of experiences, ideas and news as well as an invaluable support network.

2017 Maurice Byers Annual Lecture and Centenary Conference

The 2017 Maurice Byers Annual Lecture will delivered by The Hon James Allsop AO, Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia on 1 November 2017 at 5.30 pm in the New South Wales Bar Association Common Room.

The 2017 Annual Lecture will be preceded by the Maurice Byers Centenary Conference, to celebrate the life and times of the late Sir Maurice Byers CBE QC on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. The Conference will be held from 2.00pm - 5.00pm in the NSW Bar Association Common Room. To view the 2017 conference program please click here.

Tribal Warrior Aboriginal Corporation - ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ Fundraiser

Members of the NSW Bar Association are invited to attend a ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ fundraising event in support of the Tribal Warrior Aboriginal Corporation, a not-for-profit community organisation initiated and directed by Aboriginal people with Aboriginal Elders.

Hosted by New Chambers, the ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ event will feature contestants Lloyd Babb SC and Kara Shead SC pitching their wits against Kate Morgan SC and Arthur Moses SC.
